Ashton Lawrence, CFP®, ChFC®, CEPA®, AIF®, CBDA® serves as Director and Senior Wealth Advisor at Mariner. Working with entrepreneurs, corporate executives, physicians, business owners and multigenerational families, Ashton helps coordinate the many financial decisions that become increasingly interconnected as wealth and complexity grow.Recognized as an InvestmentNews Advisor of the Year (Regional – Southeast) Excellence Awardee, Ashton has built his practice around a simple philosophy: sophisticated financial advice should make a client’s life simpler, not more complicated. Rather than addressing investments, taxes, estate planning and other financial decisions independently, he brings them together within one coordinated strategy designed around each client’s goals.Ashton’s investment-management background is an important part of that approach. Before joining Mariner, he helped oversee investment management across his previous firm’s client base, giving him extensive experience evaluating portfolios and investment strategies. Today, he combines that perspective with comprehensive planning, serving as the central point of coordination among clients and their CPAs, estate planning attorneys and other professionals. The objective is to ensure that investment decisions are made with an understanding of their potential tax, estate and long-term planning implications—and that the different pieces of a client’s financial life are working together. That coordination becomes particularly important during major financial transitions. Clients frequently turn to Ashton when preparing to retire, selling or transitioning a closely held business, managing concentrated equity positions, navigating complex trust and estate matters, planning charitable gifts or determining how best to transfer wealth to future generations. By planning proactively and evaluating these decisions within the context of a client’s broader financial picture, Ashton helps clients identify opportunities and address potential challenges before they become urgent.Throughout his career, Ashton has received national recognition for his commitment to clients and the wealth management profession, including being named one of InvestmentNews’ 40 Under 40 and one of AdvisorHub’s Advisors to Watch. His insights have also been featured by CNBC, Forbes, Fortune, Bloomberg, MarketWatch and Yahoo Finance, where he has shared perspectives on retirement planning, tax-efficient investing, wealth preservation and market strategy.Ashton’s commitment extends beyond his advisory practice. He serves on the board of directors for United Way of Greenville County and the Eastside Family YMCA and actively supports nonprofit and civic organizations working to strengthen communities throughout Upstate South Carolina. At the heart of Ashton’s practice is the belief that great financial advice is about more than managing investments. It is about understanding what a client wants their wealth to accomplish, anticipating the decisions ahead and bringing together the right strategies and professionals to help make those goals possible. By translating complex financial issues into clear, actionable advice, Ashton seeks to give clients confidence that the pieces of their financial lives are working together; allowing them to spend less time worrying about their wealth and more time enjoying what it makes possible.
